State Officials Close Child-Care Home

Share

An Inglewood children’s-care home was closed by state licensing officials this month because the four children staying there were allegedly neglected and suffering from health problems, authorities said.

The state Department of Social Services suspended the community-care license of Mary Marshall, of West 84th Street, on July 15 because the children with disabilities under her supervision allegedly were losing weight, developing bedsores and diaper rashes and were becoming more disabled due to lack of care, state officials said.

Marshall, who could not be reached for comment, has been licensed to care for children in her home since 1988. She is not being allowed to care for children pending the outcome of a license revocation hearing before an administrative law judge.

The state licenses about 700 single-family homes, which serve more than 3,000 developmentally disabled and emotionally impaired children.
