New ‘Windows’ Versions Promised: Microsoft Corp. will bring out a new variation of its popular Windows operating system next year, designed to work on high-powered personal computers, company officials say. Microsoft will begin shipping software development kits for “Windows NT”--for new technology--late this year, and it plans to bring out the product some time in 1992. Microsoft also plans to introduce Windows 3.1, an updated version for desk- and laptop personal computers, before year-end.
