Between February and June of this year, all the member water agencies of the Metropolitan Water District of Orange County cut water usage. Compared to the same period last year, the savings ranged from 35% for the Trabuco Canyon district to 10% in Garden Grove. The average decline from 1990 was 16%. Here’s how the top water-conserving districts compared:

CONSERVATION BY DISTRICT Trabuco Canyon: 35% Seal Beach: 23% El Toro: 22% Los Alisos: 22% Capistrano Valley: 21% Serrano Irrigation: 21% Huntington Beach: 20%

Other member districts and their conservation percentages include: Brea, Southern California Water Co. and Yorba Linda, all 19%; Buena Park, 18%; Irvine Ranch, Santa Margarita and Westminster, all 17%; Santa Ana Heights, 15%; East Orange County and Fountain Valley, both 14%; La Habra and Mesa Consolidated, both 13%; La Palma, Moulton Niguel and Orange, all 12%; and Garden Grove, 10%.
