Brazil to Unfreeze Savings Accounts: Brazil, which last year froze the equivalent of $80 billion in savings accounts as part of its battle against inflation, announced that it will start releasing the funds next month. Economy Minister Marcilio Marques Moreira said depositors will be allowed to withdraw 200,000 units of the old currency, the cruzado novo, and convert them one-for-one into the current legal currency, the cruzeiro.
