‘Mermaids’ Settlement: Actress Emily Lloyd, Orion Pictures and Mermaids Productions Inc. on Wednesday settled Lloyd’s lawsuit against the firms for their refusal to pay her for a role she never played in the film “Mermaids.” Attorneys for both sides said that a deal was struck a day after the trial began, but they would not disclose the terms. Lloyd, 20, had claimed that her agreement to star alongside Cher and Bob Hoskins progressed to the point that her $435,000 salary was guaranteed, even if she was dropped from the film or the project fell through. The other side maintained that the agreement never became a binding contract.
