Rosemead : Asian Business Seminars

Share

Chamber of Commerce officials have scheduled a series of free or low-cost seminars for the Asian business community.

The seminars will be funded by a $5,000 appropriation approved by the City Council in July.

Because about 90% of all new businesses in the city are Asian-owned, the chamber hopes to acquaint the newcomers with local business practices and customs, chamber spokeswoman Bonnie Culbertson said.

“Many, though not all, of these businesses fail because they don’t understand the importance of being involved in the community and learning about business practices here,” she said.

The first of at least three planned seminars is expected to take place in October. Program specifics--including cost, duration and themes to be covered--have not been fully hammered out, Culbertson said.
