Japan Car Makers Upset by EC Export Limits: Japanese car makers are unhappy with a ground-breaking deal limiting Japanese auto exports to the European Community for a period of seven years after the unification of the European market at the end of 1992. “Seven years is too long to freeze Japanese exports to the EC,” a Toyota Motor Corp. official said. “We don’t like protectionism. It has a tendency to carry on longer than originally agreed.”
