Rash of Thefts of Pipes, Air Conditioners Reported
Thieves have taken more than $100,000 worth of air conditioners, pipes and metal doorknobs from schools and businesses in South Los Angeles over the past two months, police said Friday.

The air conditioners were grabbed from the roofs of about four dozen businesses and schools by thieves who also targeted brass doorknobs because of their salvage value, Withers said.
