SATURDAYS AT OAK CANYON--A series of nature programs will be offered on Saturday mornings through August at Oak Canyon Nature Center in Anaheim. While the programs are geared to children, everyone is welcome to attend.
On Saturday, the focus will be on how to recognize animal tracks. The 10 a.m. program will feature a walk through Oak Canyon to look for tracks and find out why and when the animals are there.
American Indians’ use of plants will be the topic Aug. 17. Participants will be led by a naturalist through the center’s grounds and shown the various plants American Indians used for medicinal purposes and as building materials. The program also begins at 10 a.m.
An early morning outing to the Anaheim wetlands--a private preserve operated by the center--to look at the birds that inhabit the area will be held at 8 a.m. Aug. 24. The outing will be followed by a Feathered Friends program at the center.
A parent/child workshop on Aug. 31 will focus on the reptiles that frequent the center’s grounds. It begins at 1 p.m.
