Faria Wins Speedway Motorcycle Title

Mike Faria of Colton won the main event and overall title of the championship format at the speedway motorcycle racing event Saturday at the Orange County Fairgrounds.

In the championship format, riders compete in five heats and the four with the most points meet in the main event. Faria won three heats and finished second in his other two before winning the main event. He finished with 21 points.

Steve Lucero of Riverside was second with 18 points, Phil Collins of Newport Beach had 17 points, good for third place, and fourth-place Bobby Schwartz of Costa Mesa had 15 points.
