SANTIAGO : A Washington Offensive?
U. S. Trade Representative Carla Anderson Hills heads for South and Central America today with stops planned in Chile, Colombia, Venezuela and Costa Rica.
Vice President Dan Quayle and Commerce Secretary Robert A. Mosbacher are already in the region leading a delegation that includes the chief executive officers of several U.S. corporations.
The visits are intended as a show of support for moves toward democracy and free-market economic reform, and to promote the Bush Administration’s Enterprise for the Americas trade and development initiative.
