Long Beach : Freshman Enrollment for Next Spring Cut Off

Share

Because of a $13.2-million budget cut, resulting in hundreds of canceled classes, Cal State Long Beach will not accept incoming freshmen for the spring 1992 semester. Approximately 200 students could be affected, said Toni Beron, a university spokeswoman.

The move is part of a CSULB plan to reduce the current 33,100 enrollment by 3,000 to reduce expenses. In addition to barring incoming freshmen, five majors--including English, speech communications and nursing--will be closed to transfer students in the spring.

Freshmen and transfer students attending CSULB this fall will not be affected, Beron said.
