Vegas Union to Take Strike Authorization Vote: Union leaders said a strike is likely at the Frontier Hotel and could hurt Las Vegas and the Strip economically, just as a bitter strike at Binion’s Horseshoe Club hurt the downtown area. Jim Arnold, secretary-treasurer of Culinary Union Local 226, said a union negotiating committee voted to take a strike vote by Frontier employees after contract talks with the hotel stalled Wednesday. He said he was uncertain when a strike vote would be taken, but added: “We know it’s coming soon.”
