You just don’t get it, do you?

In the review of “Odd Girls and Twilight Lovers,” a history of 20th-Century lesbianism by Lillian Faderman (June 9), your headline heralded “Women Without Men.” I was discomfited by the usually progressive L.A. Times’ falling into such a patriarchal trap. Wouldn’t it be akin to headlining a review of the history of the National Football League with “Men Without Bowling Balls”?)

Please, please, honor women’s days in the sun without interjecting the shadow of male egocentricity.
