Speaking Out in the Workplace
Re “When God Goes to Work” (July 26): As a relatively young man in the 1950s, I was working downtown at the Corps of Army Engineers (while a student at USC).
One morning, I arrived early and was reading a book. My supervisor came by and told me that all a person ever needed to read was the Bible.
I didn’t respond verbally, just kept on reading.
I will regret (that I didn’t respond) all my life. When people intrude their beliefs at inappropriate times and places, speak out.
