Lone Pine Sierra Film Festival Set for October

Share

The second annual Lone Pine Sierra Film Festival, probably the most tightly focused in the world, is scheduled this year from Oct. 11-13 in the Sierra foothill city. It will show only films shot amid the scenic Alabama Rocks just outside town and will honor only movie folk who made them there.

Honored guests this year include William (Hopalong Cassidy) Boyd’s widow Grace, Monte Montana, Virginia Mayo, George Montgomery, Peggy Stewart (an Autry leading lady) and William Witney, the prolific Republic director who brought “The Lone Ranger” to the screen in 1938.

Showings of 14 films and portions of others shot in Lone Pine, tours of the rocks, panel discussions and other events fill the weekend.
