Kennametal Denies Wrongdoing: Kennametal Inc., one of the nation’s biggest machine tool makers, denied that it violated U.S. export laws by selling sensitive technology and machine tools to Iraq. Last week, Marianne Gasior, a former Kennametal attorney, testified before a congressional subcommittee that the Latrobe, Pa.-based company had sold military-related technology and machine tools for munitions to Iraq. Kennametal diverted the products through its subsidiaries in Britain and Germany to bypass U.S. export restrictions, said Gasior, who left Kennametal in January, 1990. In the statement, the company said Gasior was “a vengeful former employee” but did not elaborate.
