Phillips refers to a “respected gay magazine,” a conflict of terms like “an honest thief” or “an economic expert.” His defense is based on an argument of large population percentages. If 15% of California residents were thieves, would that make stealing any more acceptable, either legally or morally? Both gentlemen miss the bottom line. The problem is not the thieves, it is the act of stealing.
