MicroProbe Buys Northwest Firm: MicroProbe Corp., a private biomedical company in Bothell, Wash., announced the acquisition of Source Scientific Systems Inc. of Garden Grove for an undisclosed sum in a cash and stock deal. MicroProbe purchased the Garden Grove medical-equipment company from Quixote Corp., a Chicago company that will acquire a minority interest in MicroProbe as part of the deal. The merger of the two operations will result in the hiring of 20 more people in the Garden Grove office, which now employs 80, said John L. Bishop, MicroProbe’s chairman. Bishop will continue to head the merged company, which will retain the MicroProbe name and be based in Garden Grove.
