Irvine has granted French & McKenna Co., a local developer, and its joint venture partner Aetna Realty Investors permission to build up to 444,000 square feet on 10 acres at the corner of Main Street and Von Karman Avenue in Irvine near John Wayne Airport. The group has up to five years to decide what to build on the property, which already has two vacant buildings on it. French & McKenna developed the Atrium nearby in the airport area but sold it several years ago.
