NATION IN BRIEF : MARYLAND : 2 More Defendants Spent Year in Jail

From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Two additional defendants may have been wrongly held for more than a year without trial dates, Maryland officials said as they continued to analyze poorly kept records at a Baltimore jail seized by the state. Since Martin Henn, a 54-year-old homeless man, was released Wednesday after spending 13 months in the Baltimore City Detention Center without being arraigned, state officials have said that they have found 93 inmates waiting without court dates in the 185-year-old jail.
