Doug Dickey, Tennessee athletic director, apologized for embarrassing the university and said he was quitting the milkshake business.

An internal audit last year cited Dickey for a conflict of interest because he supplied a mix to a former Volunteer football player who sold the finished product to the school as a nutritional milkshake for athletes.

Dickey said all the profits from the sales, less than $3,000, were returned to the university in the form of contributions to the athletic scholarship fund, but he admitted it was a bad idea.
