Taslim Olawale Elias, 76, a Nigerian who was a judge on the World Court. Elias was appointed to the World Court in 1976 after serving as his country’s attorney general, minister of justice and Supreme Court chief justice. He was also a member of the committee that drafted the charter of the Organization of African Unity in 1963. Elias served as president of the World Court from 1981 to 1985, and his current term was scheduled to end in 1994. In Lagos, Nigeria, on Aug. 14 of unreported causes.
