Robert G. Lamkins, president of the Little Company of Mary Hospital Foundation, and Kevin M. Peterson, a member of the hospital’s strategic planning committee, have been honored by Rotary District 5280 for outstanding achievement during the 1990-91 Rotary year. The district represents about 3,000 members of 50 Rotary clubs in the South Bay and on the Westside.

Lamkins, a member of the Palos Verdes Peninsula Club, was cited for his leadership of the district’s awards competition. He is past president of that club and lives in Rancho Palos Verdes.

Peterson, a district manager for GTE, is the immediate past president of Palos Verdes Peninsula Rotary Club. He was one of two people named Outstanding Club President for the year by District 5280.

Mary McKane was recently seated as the new president of Soroptimist International of Del Amo/Torrance. Also installed were Sheri Wilson, president-elect; Carol Kerwin, treasurer; Karen Cline and Mary Ellen Morris, secretaries, and Dee Bright and Nancy Mulford, directors.

Lovie Gills is the new president of the Travelairs Club, a senior citizens’ travel club. Officers serving with Gills during the coming year are Calma Bolden, vice president; Octavia Devoe, secretary, and Louise Palmer, treasurer. The club is sponsored by the Inglewood Senior Center.

Dr. Kent Shoji, emergency room physician at Little Company of Mary Hospital, was recently honored by the hospital’s medical and nursing staff for his outstanding commitment to emergency medicine. In addition to his full-time work at the hospital, which is a paramedic base station, Shoji serves as medical director of the hospital’s Advanced Cardiac Life Support class to certify and recertify the hospital’s physicians and nurses.
