World IN BRIEF : ISRAEL : Palestinian Campus Reopens

Defense Minister Moshe Arens permitted the reopening of a West Bank university ordered closed 3 1/2 years ago. The conciliatory gesture came only hours after Israel enlarged the Jewish enclave in the West Bank town of Hebron by moving in mobile homes for 160 Jewish students. An-Najah in the West Bank and five other Palestinian universities in the territories were closed at the outset of the Arab uprising in late 1987 because the army claimed they were flash points of violence.
