From Times Staff and Wire Reports

A man who spent 16 months in the Baltimore city jail awaiting trial on shoplifting charges is the latest in a series of “lost” prisoners discovered by state officials who have taken over running the jail. Darryl Dodd, 30, is now scheduled to go on trial on Sept. 4. He faces a maximum sentence of 18 months, and charges may be dropped. Another of 94 prisoners “lost” in the jail because of chaotic record-keeping is a woman held for 1,210 days on a contempt charge related to a child-custody case.
