NATION IN BRIEF : OHIO : Rap Star Indicted on Rape Charges

An arrest warrant was issued for Joseph Simmons, star of the rap group Run-DMC, after he was indicted on rape charges in Cleveland. Simmons, 25, of New York, faces three counts of rape and one count each of kidnaping and gross sexual imposition. A Cleveland woman, 22, told police that Simmons raped her in his hotel room after members of the group’s entourage approached her during a performance on Aug. 9. Police said she told them she had gone to Simmons’ hotel room to get his autograph and that, after she and Simmons had smoked marijuana, he overpowered her and raped her. Simmons is also known as Run.
