Herazo Places 27th in Walk at Tokyo

Victoria Herazo of Newhall finished 27th in the women’s 10-kilometer walk at the world track and field championships in Tokyo today.
Herazo, 32, timed 47 minutes 10 seconds and was the third U.S. walker to finish.
She has a personal best of 46:27.
Alina Ivanova of the Soviet Union won with a meet-record time of 42:57.
Ken Roupe and Scott Murray were named assistant coaches within the Cal Lutheran athletic department, Athletic Director Bob Doering announced Friday.
Roupe, a 1986 graduate of Concordia Teachers College in Seward, Neb., will assist Coach Kyle Tarpenning with the men’s track and field team. Roupe recently served as athletic director and a teacher at First Lutheran High in Sylmar.
Murray will assist George Kuntz with the women’s soccer program after assisting soccer Coach Marwan Ass’ad at Cal State Northridge from 1986-89.
