Failed Coup in Soviet Union
As a life-long Communist, I am very happy to see that the attempted coup was successfully thwarted. The Soviets have learned the hard lesson that you cannot have socialism without democracy. Let us hope that their experimentation with a market economy does not make them forget what workers throughout the capitalist world know--that you cannot have real democracy without socialism.
