Readers Join Debate on Medical Ethics

I am writing in relation to the excellent article . . . “One Family Takes a Painful Stand.”

I wanted to be able to say to the Zendejas family that I am so sorry their little son and brother died, and how courageous the parents were not to endlessly and futilely prolong his life. As a mother who loves her children very much, and a nurse, I believe they made the right decision. Congratulations, also, to the staff of Childrens Hospital of Los Angeles who guided them to the ethics panel. Let us hope this family will be able to continue their lives, and work through their grief, without hounding by those often self-righteous people who would not have made the same decision.
