World IN BRIEF : LEBANON : Amnesty for War Crimes Approved

The Lebanese Parliament approved a general amnesty for war crimes committed during 15 years of civil strife in Lebanon. The action moves rebel Christian Gen. Michel Aoun a step closer to asylum in France. Aoun, a former president, took refuge in the French Embassy in Beirut after thousands of Lebanese and Syrian troops, backed by Syrian air power, ended his 11-month mutiny last Oct. 13.
