From Times Staff and Wire Reports

A woman frustrated by her daughter’s failure to become a cheerleader spoke of killing the mother of one of the girl’s rivals more than a year before she was charged with plotting the death, a witness testified in a Houston court. Patrick Gobert, 24, who described himself as a family friend, said he thought Wanda Holloway of Channelview, Tex., was joking or too upset to mean what she said. In later testimony, Holloway’s former sister-in-law testified that her estranged husband lured Holloway into the plot to help Holloway’s ex-husband regain custody of their children.
