Boeing Decides Not to Restart 707 Line: Boeing Co. said it won’t restart production of its 707, the four-engine jet that helped launch the commercial jet age. Boeing said slow demand had forced the decision. The aircraft manufacturer hasn’t received an order for the jet in more than four years. The 707 was Boeing’s first commercial jet, making its maiden flight on July 15, 1954. The last passenger model was delivered in 1978. Variations of the 707 design have been adapted for a number of military uses. There were 1,010 of the planes built.
