Fighting Pests

In response to Mary Ellen Guffey’s response to the organic pest situation (Garden Q&A;, July 28), I couldn’t believe my eyes when I read where she wrote and I quote “But these good guys are not cheap and they are not usually as convenient as a chemical spray. Moreover, they do not always act immediately.”

I happen to know that there are several different forms of organic insecticides (Bacillius Thuringiensis, dormant oil sprays, insecticidal soap and sulfur).

Guffey made it sound hopelessly impossible for people unless they work themselves to exhaustion.

But with the products I’ve mentioned even a working individual can enjoy a pest-free garden. I have a beautiful pest-free organic vegetable garden growing in large containers in back of my mobile home. We’ve got to think about our future on mother earth or there won’t be a future earth to worry about!
