SO LONG, SUMMER: Well, the grunion sent regrets and the Angels lost their, uh, standing. . . . But come fall, there’s one sure thing in Orange County: a frenzied social scene (E1). . . . The Orange County Performing Arts Center is planning a weeklong lineup of events to celebrate its fifth anniversary. Organizers have apparently shrugged off news of a recession: Top tables at the Sept. 25 “Starlight Expressions” gala go for $25,000 each, a record for the county. The money will be used to help underwrite performances by regional arts groups in Segerstrom Hall.
