CBS Makes Deal With ‘Murphy Brown’ Producers: CBS has committed to buy four future prime-time series from the husband-and-wife production team of Diane English and Joel Shukovsky, producers of the hit comedy “Murphy Brown.” The non-exclusive deal includes financing for series for which English/Shukosky Productions will retain domestic and international distribution rights. Shukovsky said he and English are aiming to launch an independent production/distribution company that can distribute its own programming rather than associate with major studio.
