Rollbacks and Proposition 103

Share

I have been a close follower of all the news items and letters pertaining to Proposition 103 and our insurance problems. I don’t believe I have read any articles about the poor guy caught between the irate consumer and the big insurance boys. I am referring to the independent agent or broker.

He’s the one who has no control over the market or the rates, but he’s the one who is yelled at if the premiums go up. He’s the one who is given a quota of only one new auto policy a month no matter how many applicants he must turn away.

He’s the one who has to scramble to find a new company (if he can) for the client who “forgot” to pay the premium on time.

He’s the one who is trying to provide a service to people who are desperate or angry, and he is doing it while shackled hand and foot by the big insurance companies and Proposition 103.

I know all this because that independent agent is my husband.
