Henri Sonier de Lubac, 95, French cardinal and an architect of the Roman Catholic Church’s ecumenical renewal. De Lubac, who achieved the rank of cardinal in 1983, was a scholarly theologian who wrote 40 books on Catholicism and other religions. Through his career he stressed the need for diversity in the church.
