Marine Reports ‘Out of Proportion’

Share

The Times editorial (“Don’t Just Fly By This One,” Aug. 28) and article (“Reprimanded General Escaped Worse Penalty,” Aug. 28) on Brig. Gen. Wayne T. Adams and the Marine Corps prompts me to suggest that you let the Marines run their organization and that you run your own.

I doubt very much that you have the Marines telling you about the misconduct of your employees or how to run your newspaper.

Why don’t you extend the same courtesy to them?

If you want to utilize your investigative reporters and editorial writers more effectively, you might expand on your recent revelations about Willie Brown and the tobacco lobby and some of his other questionable practices.

You could also focus on our own Orange County politicians and their relations with developers.

There is no end to subjects for productive and worthwhile investigations. Please put the Gen. Adams non-story to rest and lay off the Marine Corps. It’s a fine organization.

Incidentally, I’m not a Marine and have never been a member of the Corps. I just believe that you’ve been treating the Marine Corps unfairly by blowing one rather insignificant incident way out of proportion.
