Rescuers End Search for 24 Lost in Sinking

PORT MORESBY, Papua New Guinea —
Rescuers have given up hope of finding 24 people missing from a ship that sank off Papua New Guinea’s north coast, authorities said Sunday.
The 59-foot coastal trader MV Simbang capsized and sank after being struck by a wave on Wednesday.
The National Disaster and Emergency Service said that at least nine people drowned.
