State Stake in Western Digital: The State of Wisconsin Investment Board has acquired a 5.1% stake in Western Digital Corp. for investment purposes, according to a Sept. 4 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The public pension fund for government and school employees in Wisconsin said it purchased 500,000 shares of Western Digital common stock on Aug. 13 and Aug. 14 at prices ranging from $3.75 a share to $3.83 a share. Robert J. Blair, spokesman for Western Digital, said the Wisconsin pension fund is the Irvine company’s biggest institutional shareholder.
