John Lewis, 21, one of four suspects in the kidnap-slayings of four people in the San Gabriel Valley, was linked Wednesday by detectives to the Aug. 9 kidnap, robbery and attempted murder of a 55-year-old Victorville man.

The victim, whose identity was withheld, drove his brown, 1983 Oldsmobile Cutlass off the Pomona Freeway in Chino in San Bernardino County at 11:30 p.m. after leaving work in the City of Industry, Los Angeles County sheriff’s homicide detectives said.

He was napping in his car in a restaurant parking lot on Mountain Avenue, adjacent to the freeway, when two men, one armed with a sawed-off shotgun, entered the car. The men drove the victim to Morris Dam above Azusa in the Angeles National Forest, took his wallet and $250 in cash and ordered him out of the car, detectives said. The victim fled when the assailants pointed the gun at him. The man later identified Lewis as one of the assailants.
