2 O.C. Artists Win Folk-Art Grants

The California Arts Council awarded Apprenticeship grants Thursday to two Orange County folk artists to help them pass their traditional skills onto novice folk artists.
Lazaro Arvizu( of Anaheim, head of the Xipe Totec Dance troupe, was awarded $1,700 to teach costume construction, which involves intricate bead, sequin and feather work, to Robert C. Jacobo, a 15-year-old Xipe Totec member from Rialto.
Byung Sang Lee of Orange was awarded $2,415 to teach Korean wind instrument techniques to Hee Jong Choe of Los Angeles.
