Duarte : Zoning Rules Set for Homes

Share

The City Council has approved an ordinance that will bring residential development standards into conformity with the city’s General Plan, adopted in September, 1989.

The law, which will take effect 30 days from its adoption Tuesday, will reduce the number of dwelling units that could be built in residential zones by altering density formulas. Ed Cox, director of community development, said the new density rules would, for example, limit the total allowable units from 5,992 to 4,793 in areas zoned for low density apartments.

The city staff is preparing a similar ordinance for commercial and industrial development, expected to be presented to the council next spring.
