Chiefs Bail Out: The 14-year-old Spoleto Festival USA averted a potential collapse Monday when three chief officers and 16 board members left to make way for Italian opera composer Gian Carlo Menotti to regain control of the annual arts event he founded. The announcements came at a board meeting in New York after months of infighting that almost led to Menotti’s ouster.
