Racism in America

Your special report “Race and Black America” (Opinion, Sept. 8) is certainly a most thorough presentation of many diverse viewpoints, but it does not, in my opinion, address one major deep-seated factor which transcends national boundaries, and has persisted through the millenniums. Since when has the adage “birds of a feather flock together” become obsolete?
Today, in almost every corner of the globe, we witness antagonisms or strife between juxtaposed groups, with differences in economic interests, cultures, religions, ethnicity, etc.
Forgetting other countries, where is the magician who knows how to bridge the antagonisms between American blacks and whites to the satisfaction of the majority of both groups? The country would be eternally grateful to him.
