Sun Says New Microprocessor to Be Powerful: Although it is still shrouded in mystery, details about Sun Microsystem Inc.’s next-generation microprocessor are beginning to trickle out. Officials at the Mountain View-based computer maker say their new “Super Sparc” chip will contain 3 million transistors--more than any microprocessor on the market--and will process 3 million instructions a second. There is no word yet on the microprocessor’s price or shipping date.
