Arcadia : Rail Replacement Project

Share

Arcadia officials are working with counterparts in neighboring Sierra Madre to replace a guardrail along Santa Anita Canyon Road.

The City Council on Tuesday awarded a $156,883 contract to Alcorn Fence Co. to build the new metal beam guardrail, which will run through both cities.

The project’s estimated total cost of $254,000 includes contracts, construction, engineering, inspection and project testing. The Federal Hazard Elimination Safety grant will pay for 90% of the project. Arcadia’s share is $11,400, Sierra Madre’s $14,000.

Joseph R. Lopez, director of public works, said Arcadia is acting as the lead agency and is handling the construction contract and payments. He said construction on the old and dented guardrail is expected to begin in about three weeks.
