Norton, Sapergia Trying to Win Jobs With Gulls
Darcy Norton and Brent Sapergia--two members of the Gulls’ 1990-91 team who are now free agents trying to win a spot on the ‘91-92 roster--each scored two goals to highlight the International Hockey League team’s public scrimmage Saturday.
Sapergia’s Red team defeated Norton’s White squad, 7-3, in front of nearly 1,000 fans who attended the free two-hour scrimmage at the San Diego Sports Arena. The Gulls will hold another open scrimmage today from 4-6 p.m. at the Sports Arena.
Sapergia had 15 goals and 12 assists in 26 games for the Gulls before his contract ran out and was not renewed last season. Norton was the Gulls’ fourth leading scorer, scoring 22 goals and 23 assists in 74 games.
