Motown Deal Confirmed: Motown Records confirmed that it has reached a marketing and distribution agreement with Polygram Group Distribution Inc. The agreement takes effect Sept. 29. Motown’s operating committee voted to terminate a distribution agreement with MCA Records after the two companies became engaged in a lawsuit over MCA’s handling of Motown’s music. In a prepared statement, MCA said it still has a binding agreement with Motown and will “vigorously pursue” legal remedies against anyone who violated it.
